AD Engineering Ford 8.8 Kit with 1000 hp DSS axles

Figured there was no point in going part way. I'll just end up breaking shit and missing out on another year of enjoying my car. Can't wait to stand on it only to watch it build boost without having to worry about the trans letting go or breaking an axle when she launches. 0-60 in 1st should be interesting. 60-130 should be fun also as I will only have 1 shift around 105. Now I just need a Boost Box... ;-)

I'm a little confused. Wouldn't a higher ratio ring and pinion mean your shifts happen at a lower mph? Going from 3.08 (or 3.46 if auto) to 3.55 would mean your gears get shorter, not longer...? I thought higher mph shift points would need lower ratio ring and pinions.

With a stock transmission gear ratio, but the 4L80e does not share the same gear ratio. The fact that 1st gear is useless in stock form, the 3.55 seemed to be the best fit with the 4L80e... I should be hitting 3rd by the 1/8th mile allowing me to pull through the back end of the quarter in 3rd which is good for 153 mph at 7000 rpm. I'll be pulling in peak torque in 3rd which should put up some good numbers.

And after I saw this I couldn't figure out how you were going higher and getting the same result. The BMW 6sp is too short to make your whole run to 150mph in 3 gears. Start doing your calculations with the 1.19 4th gear. 3.08, 1.19, 26" tires, and 7200rpm... done.

Yeah, this is what I was finding. I'm actually working on a billet front diff for the xi cars (like mine), so trying to see what gears are available. Plannnig no using a GM 7.2 IFS 7.2 diameter ring, pinion, and carrier setup with a custom billet housing , basically the gears that's in the front of the syty. Anyways there are many gears available for those, but there's a carrier break at 3.42 and above, so I am debating buying that carrier to reserve engineer it as well to make sure both will fit. I have a 3.08 7.2 setup, housing and all, to reverse engineer already. The 3.08 carrier can do 3.08 and below for the 7.2 stuff, but honestly anything lower the ring gear gets to be thinner than I care for hard launching. Im pretty sure the 3.42 and greater carrier break will fit regardless if the 3.08 does, given that the oaffset of the flange o the carrier actually gets closer to the pinion centerline, not further away and causing interference in the housing.

It would be ideal to have some overlap on the billet front diff and this setup, are you planning on doing only some ratios, or all the ratios that are available to the 8.8? There's a huge selection of 8.8 ratios, and some of the them overlap with the GM 7.2 setup I'm trying to design. Ultimately it would great to get a crazy hard awd launch and start going after some of the GTR's out there!

Well, the question you need to ask is, "am I willing to make a billet oil pan, axles, front shaft, and tcase?"

Unless you know the ring and pinion is the weak link of the FWD, you'll need to be prepared to build the rest of the components.

An alternative approach (like the gtrs) is to heavily bias the front and rear. This keeps the stress lower on the front, but obviously still has added drive traction than rwd alone.

Our 8.8 and 4l80e kit is intended for rwd only.

Wasn't there a dry carbon fiber driveshaft for sale on the forum? I wanna say it's by Mfactory iirc. But i wonder what the weight difference is between Andy's aluminum and the dry carbon fiber driveshaft or if it'll even fit?

I can do a DSS carbon driveshaft to my 8.8 kit. Probably an extra $450

All brackets are included the make the kit a true "bolt-in" part. No cutting nor drilling.

Shipping to Australia would be air via usps in multiple boxes for weight and customs.

As of right now, only the Ford 8.8 IRS Conversion Kit is available. It is built to order and takes 2-3weeks.

The 4l80e kit is still being built one at a time as the production pieces are finished. ETA on them being commercially available is 4-8weeks.
