335is M3 rear-end (diff, axles…)

Hi all, I just bought a DCT 335i and wanted to fit an M3 LSD to it. I’ve done a bit of reading and from my understanding it seems the M3 gear ratio is too different from the 2.56 in the 335is.

I’m in the UK and I’ve just seen a complete E92 M3 rear come up for sale. Only thing is it came off a manual so the ratio is waaaay off.

But I’m planning on switching to a 2.81 ratio anyway, off an older BMW. Will I have any issues in this case?

Any guidance or help is much appreciated with getting this build up and running!

I know there is a 2.81 ring and pinion but is it compatible with the m3 differential case?

If this listing is anything to go by, various 210mm ring and pinions from older models/chassis are interchangeable with those found in e9x m3 pumpkins. https://www.difflab.com.au/products/bmw-210mm-ring-pinion-3-62

However, 35i and 35d 2.81 ring gears appear to not be cross compatible: https://www.difflab.com.au/products/bmw-215lw-spline-type-ring-pinion-2-81

The lowest m3 ring gear is 3.15 I believe, the m3 dct uses 3.15 which should work fine with a gearbox flash
