What happens if I use the stock rear inlet with some kind of adapter for 17T turbos? Looking to do the install myself and the rear inlet needs cutting or just seems like a real pain to install. It looks like when you install the 2" silicone inlet hose it becomes squashed and narrowed like the stock inlet anyway. Also not looking to extract the absolute maximum power from the turbos. Going to be conservative.

If you're going to go through the effort of installing the 17t's yourself, you might as well not skip out on inlets either meaning both the front & rear. I installed 2" inlets & outlets for my 19t's and just alternated between raising and lowering the engine, when I had it on the hoist, which helped significantly as I fished it down into place. It won't be squished either, though it'll seem like it by just looking / feeling around it. It's definitely a tight fit, but you'll be fine. If you're too worried still, just get relocated inlets and then you'll be able to see every part to know if there's a pinch or not.
