Sure there is no coverage on bottom but it looks like the plate literally seals the pleated filter...maybe more close up pics would clarify. Is there a space between the pleats and the metal cover so air can move into vent?They are clearly open on the bottom...

The opening is 3/4" high sitting above the pleated filter all aroundThey look like they completely sealed the filters... why would you do that?
