This is very cool, I've been looking at more information on B58 swaps because the N55 in my 435 isn't doing particularly great.. when it blows I really want to swap a B58 because I dislike the N55. I also saw someone with a 2015 320xi pre-lci manage to have a B58 swapped into his F30. I've been on real-oem seeing what part numbers are the same between the 435 and the 440, and a lot of the modules match up, even things like front and rear subframes match and things like that.. I was thinking if I purchased a donor car off copart like a 440 with a twisted frame or something, drop the front and rear subframes with the motor and everything, swap over the fuel tank and lines. Everything should bolt up to the 435 correct?
I'm not worried about getting the stuff on the car considering they're both F32s... my main worry is the electronics side of things. How does this swap work electronically? Do you keep the original modules in the car? I assume you have to change the FEM to the one from the B58 car along with the key from the B58 car correct? On a side note, when I swapped my N54 for a new N54 (spun bearing) that was a real pain, hopefully F series isn't like my E92 in terms of swapping motors
