Weird things in ISTA…plus iDrive endlessly rebooting

So two..maybe inter connected matters..

The odd idrive issue…every so often…maybe once every few weeks, and generally seems to correlate with over night parking outside in damp weather..but not always..

The iDrive boots up and initially all is well..then after 3 or 4 minutes it shuts down, the lid closes then about 5 minutes later it reboots and repeats ..I noticed today that the audio sub systems . CD, car play, USB, streaming bluetooth all were struggling to get established..

Normally after about an hour of this malarkey it then settles down and all is well….

Any ideas?

Today interrelated I was tryimg to use the DCT fluid top procedure in ISTA…

When I fired ISTA up I got a connection to the car..but when I did full troubleshoot several sub unit including DKP aka DCT were red and any attempt to access them was refused..

Huge list of error messages..some of which cleared..

Strange thing is Bimmergeeks Protool could see the DCT and me to monitor temperatures and engage 1st etc…

Any observations ?

Apparently you don't use icom? There have been many problems with bad K+D CAN cables.

I have an ICOM unit but never climbed the learning curve....maybe now is the time..generally the same K+D can cable works with my Android on Protool!

With the K+DCAN cable, you cannot connect to the MOST bus, where the CIC is. The connection is not perfect. Connect your laptop to the icom and the icom USB cable to the "MOST block". You connect the Most block to the bus, which can be found on the left side of the dashboard. You don't need to familiarize yourself with the use of Icom with ISTA. You select icom from the ISTA menu. ISTA will find it.

Thank you I’m not sure on a RHD car where the connector is but I’ll try and find it…
