Hello, bought the tial bov and paired it with the 335d charge pipe, installed new Hydra hp800 turbos and a new Stage 2 LPFP and a new HPFP.

I feel like I had the BOV set right and now, being me, I adjusted it again (unscrewing the top nut and moving the line connector more south) and it feels like my car has alot less power and its VERY loud now.

I google help with this BOV and there really isnt anything. Can someone assist? I dont want to trial n error this to death. Also, the valve, it doesnt really show you which way is more 'open' vs closed.

Thanks.

Hi. I think you searched badly...the subject has been discussed hundreds of times on forums, FB groups, YouTube...and of course in all languages. there is no adjustment on the bov. you just have to take the black spring (. -10psi) and improve the line that goes from the intake manifold to the bov

Hi Seb, thanks for the fast response.

TiAL Sport Blow Off Valve for BMW N54 – Q 50mm BOV Black – 10 PSI Spring Q.10B

1. Inake line improved to intake manifold ✅ (see Check1 pic) threaded, with gorilla epoxy to secure it

5/16 Inch Barb to 1/4 Inch Male

Check1.jpg

2. Larger Vacuum line installed ✅ (see Check2 pic)

NOW. The screw fitting with the hole....that fits into the ball with the male end....

Has no bearing on performace when its 'open' or 'closed' more. Its litterally just sound preference?

Then why after adjusting it my car wasnt as snappy and made a whole heck alot more silly noise wooshing etc.

You can clearly see there is a vent hole on the BOV itself.

I have seen many threads on this, most empty from no responses, and usually the same stuff about noise preference. There is nothing technical.

Thanks again

I haven't ran a blow off, so I may be off base here, but that looks like a standard banjo fitting, no? If so I think the intent would be they used it so you can clock the barb to any angle you want, but it should be fully tightened at all times during use. Otherwise when under boost, you'll have no manifold pressure to hold the blow-off closed (it will leak out through the loose banjo bolt). Between that and the blow-off valve getting pushed open you'll have a gigantic boost leak.

Makes sense. I just re-atteched the top fitting, used piping tape on the thread and tightened her down. I just put the barb towards the inake and I was able to cut off about 2" more of the fatter vacuum line. I drove like Ms. Daisy until she was properly warmed up, then let her rip. Car sounds perfect now, not sure if I was over thinking it all instead of using logic and my smarts. Gun shy a bit from the car as I have been repairing/replacing parts for over a year now to get her to where she is today. But the BOV sounded great...thanks for the responses.

Ran a log in MHD....only concern is, with these Hydra HP800s, is 17lbs of Boost ideal? I have a 3.5 TMAP in the car with the adapter. Any way to dial up more boost? I see people running 25lbs...I DONT want to blow the car up or weaken the motor from running a silly high boost. BUT, I do think I can get more out of her. Thoughts?

TIAL valves are only adjustable by changing out the physical spring.

Boost is just a relative mark for power. Timing is too. Just shooting for xx boost is short sighted IMO.

Who's your tuner?

MHD with all the map packs possible except MBoost.

And you're correct on me just wanting to add more boost. But I'm open to hearing suggestions.

just to make sure I understood correctly....do you have the Hydra hp 800 with an MHD map? is that right? I hope I misunderstood. . contact a real tuner so that he can create a map adapted to these turbos. I set mine with JSRT
