If you own a Schwaben BMW Scanner from Foxwell Technologies, and you need to do the transmission reset procedure here are some details you should know.

In the transmission settings under "service" or "control" section, there are two transmissions available.

1. 6HP19 - For anyone with the 6HP19 transmission.
2. 6HP19Tü - For people with the 6HP21 transmission.

If you have a 6hp21 unit, you should choose the #2 option. BMW & ZF use different nomenclature to name the 6hp21. BMW calls the 6hp21 unit - 6HP19Tü which means basically is the technical update to the 6hp19.

So whether you are deleting adaptations, or resetting to zero value - use the 6HP19Tü if you have a 6hp21 transmission.

I am going to do my reset and relearn procedure tonight on my new Propulsive Dynamics 6HP21 unit. Keeping fingers crossed!

I'll tell you this, ZF engineers are maniacs over resetting trans adaptations.. For a complete new unit that's a little different because the Egs has to get Programmed

I know it slips the wholly hell outta the clutches during the learn in procedure from my understanding and that's why they are so against it..

They are very secretive to keep us dependent on them I think lol. I just k ow if you speak to one about a trans concern and start off with I rest adaptations your bound to get an earful lol

Just look I to it I guess with used unit

My experience has been that installation of a new unit with new fluid from empty or replacing fluids after a flush absolutely requires re-adaptations, otherwise the EGS has no idea what pressures to shift.

After doing the recommended re-adaptation drive process (60 miles with shoulder lanes) with various specific driving patterns... the transmission becomes rock solid. Otherwise, it will shift at very ridiculous times and rams, like it were broken already. ESPECIALLY if your tranny had a big leak in the hoses and all your ATF ran empty while you were driving... the old values adjusted according to the loss in fluids...then when you refill, it will drive like dirt. Until you re-adapt the reset values. I literally just did this an hour ago... roughly 60 miles and one hour.

do you guys think that the car having misfires in 2 cylinders could ever cause the tranismission to need resetting? or maybe just the old owner driver very different from my style of driving, would it be better to let the car nadjust to my driving or should I reset it and teach it my driving habbits?

Misfires do not affect transmission in any way.

ya I didn't think so but wanted to ask cuz I wasn't sure if maybe the misfires could have caused the tranny to adjust to it or something an when they were fix it left the tranny thinking it needed to adapt to a misfire causing the lil issue, its weird tho an the more I think about it its definantly either the injectors or the fuel pump because it hasn't done the studder thing it was doing when I first got it, that stopped after I added the chevron injector cleaner, an then running nothing but chevron 91 since getting it feels like it has helped too, its even more strange when I consider that if I drive with a heavy foot it don't seem to have any issues, or if so definantly a lot less than when I drive normal.
