So, I believe I was going to do something similar to this about 5-6 months ago but.. Who would be interested in seeing a complete list of solutions to the N54 platform (NON-BRANDED) just to see what all we have done and where we could go from here?

A common question is what mods to buy. I think there would be more value in modification paths. I tried to list aftermarket parts.. There are just too many options and it constantly changes. An upgrade path is useful at the same time for new people.

I concur. Modification paths would probably be easier to list out instead of an actual parts list.

Some kind of mod tree, which takes into account things to avoid buying if they intend on going single turbo later, etc.

What ever happened to this thread? Was a good idea and I wish it was completed. Sorry to resurrect an old thread

Ive read that article. Even have it saved on my phone for reference. I am on a tight budget and am looking for about 450whp. I’m looking for really budget minded hardware but will spend the extra dough on electrical stuff. Phoenix chargepipe, Chinese knockoff IC type shit, but will go with a good brand WMI for IAT and a little bit of octane. Would be awesome if people made an updated list/lists of where they got what and a small pros con list for going the route they went from big name to DIY.

LOL, I used to say something similar when I sold cars. Low mileage, low price, nice options. Chose two. Holds true to most in life. All non moving parts will probably be cheap and fast, CP, DP, IC, hot inlet and CP. Turbos (which I can’t even contemplate right now) BOV, WMI kit, stage 2 lpfp etc.. will be fast and reliable and take longer to get. I’m still not FBO fml!!!!

Just save your money and do it right the first time! Do it right do it light do it wrong do it long! Plus you can easily find deals on used quality parts. As far as turbos are concern Tony offers the best deal on stage 2s which are good for 600whp. Back in the day those would cost about 3k+ core fee and now you can get them for 2k no core.

The only problem with a mod list or even a mod "path" is there is so many differing opinions. For instance, I would say if you are looking for 600whp or less, stay twins. However, many would say to just go single to make replacing the turbo easier, so there's no consensus. Some people are brand name sticklers, others know that depending on the part, brand doesn't matter.

Then you have the whole JB4 vs flash only debate. Different strokes for different folks. How boring would this platform be if EVERYONE did the EXACT same thing? I think it's interesting to see some of the single turbo setups, even though it's not the route I would go.

I agree completely langsbr, I think I just have to read more people’s build threads. I wish more people with mild builds would do one though but I think we are insecure about doing it since it would either be extremely short or look weak compared to people dropping 5-10k.
