I am really enjoying all the noise from the single setup but I hate driving around without the cowl on so I constantly take it off and put it back on when I know it's going to rain. Did anyone figure something out to keep the noise but also keep the rain away from the engine bay?

I've been toying with the idea of drilling 2 holes in the cowl and glueing in some pvc pipes just high enough so the water doesn't end up in the engine bay however the noise can still come through.

That keeps water from going inside the car, not inside the engine bay. Thanks anyways. Do you have a build thread? I wanted to see more pics of your engine, I asked in another thread but you didn't answer.

Hey, I actually did add it as an edit later, but I do yes: https://bmw.spoolstreet.com/threads/2009-e93-ad-e-single-turbo-build.959/

The info you want is probably near the end. I haven't updated it in a while, but I think I should be getting to that point soon.

FWIW my car hasn’t had a cowl since I purchased it 3 years ago and likely years before that, and I haven’t noticed any water getting into my engine bay/DME

If you have a close look it does stop water going inside the engine bay as it keeps all the water diversion channels, its been raining cats and dogs here for the last 3 days
and no water has made it to the engine and I run with no engine cover

You can pull the front seal off the oem cowl, but then it let's in the "hot engine" smell.

I'm in for this would be cool to be able to add something like the 1ers had. Love the noises, but I also love the way my AC and interior smell like nothing at all lol

My single is silent, until boost hits.

if you have a nice clean engine and no leaky rocker cover or no VTA catch cans there should be absolutely no smell coming from the engine bay.

Run my car with no cowl since the day I bought it, haven't noticed much smell and have never opened the hood and seen it wet -- even when its been raining. I pop the hood regularly at gas stations to check my catch can.

Ok but like, what if we could have the best of both worlds?

Doesn't the e9x m3 cowl let in alot more bay noise?

Yup! I always start trying to find all of the pieces used, and then give up lol

@doublespaces do you know if the M3 cowl seals against the non-M hood?
