Won't load on my phone, but im 99% sure N55 and N52 have the exact same exhaust cams.

That is crazy...so BPC was just where they dyno'd eh?

I am surprised they used a tuner from Europe vs. someone state side but whatever.

Wow. Very nice. Wonder if this can be amplified further with higher lift/duration cams from there.

Think we just watched the N54 advantage fly out the window.

So why has it been said that cams don't make power without a head or whatever? Perhaps they just mean schricks profile sucks or is optimized for much higher power?

Was pureboost also tuning this car previously? (Fabian?)

@Bnks334 had an interesting comment.

"BPC has done stuff like this a few times now claiming gains on things... A PS2 was already capable of hitting 532whp at 5500rpms... They didn't gain anything. No normal PS2 car "falls on its face" at 5500 rpm range either. Sounds more like the BPC tune picked … "

It would be nice to know who tuned it before hopefully it was the same person and both tunes were maxed.

You could always artificially lower tune 1st but I doubt that happened, it's not like N52 cams are expensive or hard to find. No reason to falsify this info I guess is my point. They are not selling N52 cams.

BPC's main tuner left to start his own business. BPC once tried to get in to the n54 tuning market but were promptly laugh at because of their prices. Their turbo n52 car is neat I guess but there is no market for it.

From bummer boost. I'm pretty sure Marty knows what he is talking about.

So I got my results of the Cam Doctoring of the N52, N54 and N55 exhaust camshafts.

All the cams had the same cam lift- 0.230 +/- 0.002 which is right at 9.70mm.

Duration of stock exhaust cams is as follows- at 0.020, 0.050 and 0.200

N52 used- 221.2*, 190.3*, 74.1*
N52 new Russian- 222.0*, 189.7*, 72.3*

N54 used- 216.5*, 192.9*, 75.8*
N55 used- 216.4, 192.9*, 76.9*

For other aftermarket available N54 cams-

N54 CAT 239/263 stock- 211* @ 0.020
N54 CAT 267/266- 216* @ 0.020
N54 CAT 274/270- 220* @ 0.020
N54 CAT 282/274- 224* @ 0.020

Schrick N54 264- ?264* @ 0.020
Schrick N54 268- ?268* @ 0.020

Pretty sure BPC, like every business, operates with their own self-interest at mind first and foremost. Yes, they did gain power; however, I have 0 confidence it had anything to do with the cam change. I would give BPC the benefit of the doubt and say that it's the video maker making the claim, but, BPC is being called the "mastermind" of the swap. If that's the case, it's just a publicity stunt imo. Maybe even just ignorance and excitement over the gains. Most likely depending heavily on the meth for octane and mid-range gains in the revised tune. Get back to me when they actually push a PS2 car to a record. 532whp in the mid-range tapering to 450whp is not a gain. That's normal Ps2 numbers.

It looked more like a 60 whp gain, not 100, and if that's 93 + meth with a PS2, downpipe, EWG N55, possible an XDI hpfp too, eh. Especially without logs of the before/after. Sounded like they claimed to leave it "on the same boost setting" but aren't using a boost controller, so I dunno how that's true lol. Have seen a couple of his videos before and he seems woefully uninformed.

BPC only advertises tunes for diesels afaik, so I dunno what they have to gain from this. At best this is just coincidental tuning improvements, at worst it's shitty clickbait.

He said "the gain at 5500 rpms" not peak, is where the 100whp differential is. That makes sense as it doesn't increase peak power 100whp, but in certain areas it defintely can. I added a cam to my LT1 (old style) Camaro and picked up 60WHP peak and over 100WHP max just because it carried power much further than the stock cam.

The bigger question here is if the timing on the stock cam was optimized - I would think it would be - weren't his numbers in the normal vicinity for a PS2 N55? Plus, it looks like the curve changed ever so slightly, which I wouldn't expect from just added timing. Logs would be nice to see the difference though.

There was a PWG F30 today that posted up today with PS2, FBO, XDI-35 HPFP, Custom Tune (93 Pump + Boostane, FLASH ONLY, no piggybacks/jb4) that made 528whp & 570wtq on a Dynojet. These numbers are pretty typical from the PS2 N55 results I have seen on cars with all the supporting mods. So I agree that his initial numbers were way down in comparison.
