The new M2 Competition will have a one piece grill

The M2 Competition will not have the split kidney grills that normally go on BMWs. Apparently its just a one piece grill. It also comes with a detuned, 405hp S55:

Seems strange they would do a single grill instead of the heritage kidneys.

I would disagree with them. ONE of the things that is a "signature" of a BMW is the kidneys, while changed over the years still remain very much the same. Guess we'll have to see the entire thing to really say if it will fly with the BMW enthusiasts.

Chances are it will resemble the basic shape but will be connected in the center?

Not like I'd buy one anyway. Pretty bonehead move on brand identity though if you ask me.
